Totara has launched version 19 of its platform, featuring several updates aimed at improving user experience and learning outcomes. The new version introduces collaborative learning tools, an updated user interface, and Totara’s first AI integration, OpenAI.
With this update, all clients can easily incorporate collaborative learning into their training programmes. Features like Workspaces, Forums, and user-generated content—once exclusive to Totara Engage—are now part of Totara Learn LMS. This change promotes knowledge sharing, peer interaction, and allows learning to be part of the everyday workflow.
Improved User Experience
Version 19 comes with notable UI and UX improvements for a more cohesive and user-friendly experience. Key updates include:
– ‘Inspire’ Theme: This modern design makes navigation easier by highlighting Totara’s most-used features.
– ‘Explore’ Catalogue: Offers personalisation options so learners can view content suited to them.
– Mobile-Friendly Design: Optimises the interface for use on mobile browsers.
AI-Powered Learning
Totara is also introducing AI-driven solutions with its OpenAI Integration. This feature lets partners use OpenAI’s processing capabilities to access specific content and data in Totara’s LMS.

Dave Cruickshank, CEO of Totara Learning Group, said:
“We’re excited to add collaborative learning features for all Totara users by integrating them into our core LMS. It’s now much simpler for learners to discuss ideas, share practices, and exchange insights with peers. These tools enhance training content and help drive change.”
He also mentioned, “Our commitment to usability is shown in the UI and UX improvements in version 19, making it easier for everyone to use.”
