The Massachusetts Library System (MLS) is making it easier for its member library staff to learn new skills and access educational resources online. The organization launched a major upgrade to its digital learning platform called the MLS Learning Hub, a system designed to be more intuitive and user-friendly for library staff at more than 1,500 member libraries throughout the Commonwealth.

MLS supports libraries that serve a population of more than 6.7 million people in Massachusetts, ensuring that member library staff from all corners of the state have access to knowledge and opportunity.

This improved online learning platform is a strategic investment for MLS’s members, offering them courses on a wide variety of topics, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), leadership, marketing, early literacy, and wellness at no cost.

The updated platform, developed in partnership with learning technology company Titus Learning, offers significant improvements to the system. The new version features a clean, modern design, easier navigation, and an improved catalog that helps learners find what they need faster.

“We are excited to offer staff at MLS member libraries access to a growing catalog of courses and workshops through the Learning Hub. As one participant noted, ‘The Learning Hub is easy to navigate, and having on-demand learning available has been so beneficial for my schedule.’

Titus Learning revitalized our platform, and we are very pleased with the work they did in support of our members’ learning needs”. – Hillary Washburn, MLS Learning Experience Program Manager.

Titus Learning, a company that has also worked with global organizations like CNN and the University of Cambridge, is now supporting MLS on custom development projects, which deliver new features tailored specifically to MLS’s needs.

Beyond the platform, MLS provides other learning services like grants and scholarships, consulting, and training. Other services include statewide delivery of library resources, temporary and permanent staffing solutions through BiblioTemps, and access to digital content through the Commonwealth eBook Collections.

“We’re proud to collaborate with the Massachusetts Library System on such an important project,” said Mandeep Kullar, Senior Business Development Manager at Titus Learning. “Our team has applied the same level of expertise we’ve used for global leaders to ensure learners in Massachusetts have access to a world-class online experience.”

MLS and Titus plan to continue developing the platform to meet the evolving needs of members, ensuring the system remains a valuable resource for years to come.
